Position Summary

Under the direction of the Placement Manager (PM), School of Social and Community Services (SSCS), the Field Placement Preparation Officer will be responsible for helping to prepare students for placement eligibility by facilitating the collection, tracking and reporting of all pre-placement documents for students across the SSCS. The incumbent will also communicate and arrange specialized certification courses for students preparing to enter field placement. Regular and recurring tasks include: sending communication to students regarding documentation; collecting and tracking pre-placement documents; maintenance of the SSCS Placement and Partnership databases, reporting student progress to the various SSCS programs; planning and advertising CPR/First Aid, CPI, ASIST, UMAB and other program specific training; planning and advertising career-focused workshops for students; sorting mail and student assignments; answering student inquiries in person and via email regarding pre-placement documentation. The incumbent will be located in a front-facing workspace and will act as a central point of contact for students, faculty and staff, and as such, will be required to triage appropriately. The incumbent will assist SSCS Field Placement Coordinators in efforts focused on the success of students entering the field and will be required to be familiar with SSCS Placement Procedures and Practices surrounding timely submission of documents. This role will include other duties as assigned by members of the SSCS Management team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess at minimum a 2 year diploma along with a minimum 2 years of related experience. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the skills required to manage multiple projects; will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; time management skills; data management and advanced computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Access; and the ability to organize and prepare professional documents ranging from general correspondence to extensive reports. The candidate will work proactively and will demonstrate the ability to create efficiencies in their role.
