About Us

The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) sets out specific requirements for the establishment, structure and function of Joint Health and Safety Committees in Ontario workplaces. As an important part of the Internal Responsibility System, the basic function of the Committee is to act as an advisory body by identifying workplace hazards and making recommendations for the improvement of employee health and safety.

Humber has one central Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). There is equal representation from academic (OPSEU Local 562) and support (OPSEU Local 563) staff, with the remainder of the Committee being made up of Humber administration.
