All Humber student workers (e.g. work study students) are required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act to complete mandatory Health & Safety Awareness Training. This training is designed to enhance the student's awareness of health and safety in the Humber workplace and to inform them about their rights and responsibilities as an employee.

To complete the training, student workers must complete the following three (3) steps:
Step 1: Complete the Ontario Ministry of Labour's (MOL) online course: Health & Safety Awareness in 4 Steps. A certificate of successful completion will be issued at the end of the course.
Step 2: Carefully read the information on Humber's Student Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training Handout. This handout supplements the information that the student received in Step 1 and is information that all Humber employees should know. Once the information is read, the student worker is to complete and sign the Employee Statement located on the bottom of Page 3 of the handout.
Step 3: The student worker is to submit the following to their supervisor and Health and Safety Services (email@example.com)
(a) A copy of the certificate of completion for the MOL online training course.
(b) A copy of the signed Employee Statement located on page 3 of Training Handout.
Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that all students working for them are aware of the training requirements and complete this Student Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training.
Please note: Student workers should complete this training within one (1) month of hire.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS):
All employees who work with chemicals or other hazardous materials as part of their job are required to complete WHMIS 2015 training. For WHMIS 2015 training, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register for an upcoming in-class or online training session.
Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Awareness Training:
All employees are required to complete Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Awareness Training. For more information on how to complete this online training module, please see hrs.humber.ca/human-rights-equity-diversity/training-programs/sexual-violence-training.html.
Job Specific Training:
All employees, including student workers, are responsible to contact their supervisor if additional training is required for potential or existing hazards that they may come across as part of their role.
